Safira Gems is a distinguished mining company with over two decades of expertise, specializing in the extraction of blue and pink sapphires, along with rubies in Madagascar. Established by Nirina, a pioneer in Ilakaka during the 1998 sapphire rush, Pink Valley has evolved from artisanal to mechanized mining techniques, prioritizing miner safety.

After a brief hiatus due to financial challenges in 2000, Pink Valley successfully ventured into mechanized mining in 2005, only to face adversity during the 2009 global crisis. Since 2020, Safira Gems has embraced environmentally friendly mechanized techniques, ensuring sustainable mining practices.

Pink Valley has evolved from artisanal to mechanized mining techniques, prioritizing miner safety.

In 2022, sapphire roughs from various locations like Ilakaka, Mandritsara, and Andilamena were carefully sorted and introduced to international markets.

Rindra, Nirina’s daughter, a Gemological Graduate from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) leads gem commercialization.

Expanding its offerings, Pink Valley initiated artisanal ruby mining in Andilamena in 2023, poised to enter the market soon. In Thailand, Safira Gems serves as the gem trading arm, planning to implement heating and preforming of roughs in Q2 2024.
